Babur GK Notes

The First Mughal Emperor.

In Turkish Babur mean Tiger.

Full Name: - Zahir-ud-din mohammand babur.

Father Name: - Umar Sheik mirza(died in 1494).

Born on: - 1483 in Andijan, Uzbekistan.

In 1494 at the age of 14 he succeeds to Farghan.

Contemporary: - Guru Nanak Dev ji


Autobiography:
Tuzuk-i-baburi (Baburnama)
Baburnama was written in Turkish language.
Baburnama was translated into Persian in 1589 in the time of Akbar by Abdur Rahim Khan-i-Khanan, son of Bairam khan.
Baburnama was first translated into English by John Leyden and William Erskine, later by Annette Susannah Beveridge.

Invention:
Babur was invited in India by 3 rulers:-
1.    Alam khan lodi ( uncle of Ibrahim lodi)
2.    Dault khan lodi (Governor of Punjab and uncle of Ibrahim lodi).
3.    Rana Sanga (rajput of mewar).



Battles:

First battle of panipat (1526):
Between Babur and Ibrahim lodi
Ibrahim lodhi was sultan of Delhi.
Babur won and Ibrahim lodhi was killed.
In this battle first time artillery was used in India.

Battle of Khanwa (1527):
Between Babur and Rana Sanga (Full Name: Rana Sangram Singh).
Babur won.
Rana Sanga escaped from battle.
In 1528 Rana sanga died by poisoned by his own nobles.

Battle of Chanderi (1528):
Between Babur and Medini Rai (ruler of Mewar).
Babur won

Battle of Ghaghar (1529)
Between Babur and Afghans ( under the leadership of Sultn Mahmud Lodi and sultan Nusrat Shah).
Sultan Nusrat Shah was son in law of Ibrahim lodi and sultan of Bengal.
Babur won.



Constructions:
Baburi masjit in Ayodhya (UP).
Kabuli Bagh Mosque in Panipat in 1527 ( It was the first mughal monument in India). It was constructed to commemorate the victory of Panipat.


Death:
Died: - 1530, Agra
His tomb is in Kabul, Afghanistan in Bagh-e-Babur (Babur Gardens).
